Atlanta Hawks Return to Peachtree TV for Game Broadcasts

Atlanta Hawks Rekindle Partnership with Peachtree TV

The Atlanta Hawks, an esteemed franchise of the NBA, are poised to revisit their broadcasting roots as they reignite a partnership with Peachtree TV. This marks a significant return to the channel after nearly three decades since the games were last aired on the network. Commencing January 12, 2024, Peachtree TV is set to broadcast every Friday night Hawks game for the remainder of the 2023-24 NBA season, with the exception of the game on March 8th.

In a unique twist, the channel will instead air the matchup against New Orleans on March 10, bypassing the earlier game. This strategic scheduling ensures that fans won't miss out on any action-packed basketball during the prime Friday night slot.

The history of the Hawks' broadcasts can be traced back to WPCH, where games were televised from 1972 until 1994, and WANF, which carried the broadcasts from 1986 to 1993. In a nod to this legacy, the first two games under the new arrangement will be simulcast live on both Peachtree TV and WANF.

Fans across Georgia and Alabama will have ample opportunity to tune in, as live Hawks games will be accessible through Peachtree TV, major cable and satellite services, and various Gray TV stations throughout these states.

Production Team and Commentary

The games will feature the seasoned Bally Sports Southeast production team, bringing familiar voices to the commentary. Fans will enjoy insights from none other than Dominique Wilkins and Bob Rathbun, with Tabitha Turner reporting from the sidelines. Additionally, Baillie Burmaster, the Sports Director from WANF, will be lending her expertise to the broadcasts, enriching the viewing experience with her contributions.

The Hawks' schedule is brimming with high-stakes encounters, including face-offs with formidable opponents like the Miami Heat, Dallas Mavericks, Phoenix Suns, and Philadelphia 76ers. These matchups promise to deliver the intensity and excitement that Friday night basketball is known for.

It's worth noting that Peachtree TV has been the home for the College Park Skyhawks since 2019, showcasing their commitment to basketball at all levels within the state.

Recent On-Court Struggles

Despite the enthusiasm surrounding the broadcast deal, the Hawks have faced recent on-court challenges. A notable setback occurred in a game against the Sacramento Kings, where the team relinquished a substantial lead due to a lackluster performance in the second half. Key players Dejounte Murray and Bogdan Bogdanovic saw a dip in their contributions, scoring only two and three points respectively during this period.

The statistics painted a grim picture, with the Hawks' field goal percentage plummeting to 28.9 percent and their three-point success rate dropping to 21.7 percent in the latter stages of the game. These figures underscore the need for the team to regroup and address their offensive execution.

Leadership Perspectives

Andrew Saltzman, an executive associated with the Hawks, expressed his optimism about the new broadcasting avenue, stating, "It provides fans a new, complimentary way to view the games." He continued to share his excitement about the deal and extended gratitude towards Peachtree TV and Gray TV for their collaboration, emphasizing the advantage it brings to the Hawks' local fan base.

Erik Schrader, another voice in the conversation, highlighted the significance of bringing the Hawks back to broadcast television, citing the increased accessibility it offers to all fans. Schrader also pointed out the potential to engage new audiences while continuing to cater to long-time supporters.

On the coaching front, Quin Snyder, the Hawks' head coach, called for "better execution and a collective approach" following the disappointing loss. Meanwhile, Clint Capela, one of the team's stalwarts, voiced the team's frustration and underscored the urgent need for a tactical shift.

As the Hawks look forward to their renewed presence on Peachtree TV, there is a palpable sense of anticipation among fans and stakeholders alike. With the combination of a historic broadcast partnership and the drive to enhance on-court performances, the Atlanta Hawks are setting the stage for an exciting chapter in their storied franchise history.
